The Licking County Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all traffic and criminal misdemeanors that occur in Licking County, Ohio. The Court also handles preliminary matters in felony cases and has jurisdiction over civil cases involving claims of up to $15,000.00. In addition, the Licking County Municipal Court has a Small Claims Division. The purpose of the Small Claims Court is to resolve minor disputes fairly, quickly, and inexpensively. Currently, two judges serve on the Licking County Municipal Court; Judge Michael F. Higgins and Judge W. David Branstool, both of whom are elected to six (6) year terms.
